THE VIBRATORS WILL REISSUE THE REMASTERED “ENERGIZE” PLUS BONUS ON JULY 17TH

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

GET RE ENERGIZED AND EXPLODE INTO SUMMER WITH THE VIBRATORS

THE VIBRATORS WILL REISSUE THE REMASTERED “ENERGIZE” PLUS BONUS ON JULY 17TH

Legendary Punk Rock pioneers The Vibrators are ready to reissue their 2002 album “Energize”. It has been remastered by Alan Douches (High on Fire, Mastodon, The Misfits, etc...) and includes the bonus track “Shake Some Action“ (Flamin’ Groovies), with liner notes by “Vive Le Rock’s” Eugene Butcher.

Headed up by founding members Knox (Lead Vocals/Guitar) and John 'Eddie' Edwards (Drums) and joined by Robbie Tart (Bass), the album was produced by original bassist Pat Collier. Energize's greatest virtue isn't the fact that it's glorious business as usual, but the implausibility of that business still being glorious. But a couple of choruses of the pounding "New Brain" are all you need to hear before Energize re-energizes all your old enthusiasm, and the Vibrators' vibrations are as powerful as ever.

Knox looks back on the album and states, “I hadn't listened to any of this album for years, but I was shocked at how good the lyrics were and how on fire my guitar playing is. This album has lot’s of great moments - so give it a spin!”

There are limited edition T-SHIRT/CD bundles (while supplies last), which can be ordered via The Vibrators store here: https://tinyurl.com/y76pncj4

Product Includes:
- One (1) The Vibrators - Energize (Remastered + Bonus Track) CD

With a career lasting over forty years, original vocalist/guitarist Ian "Knox" Carnochan, bassist Pat Collier, guitarist John Ellis (Peter Gabriel) and drummer Eddie originally formed The Vibrators in February 1976, and their first gig was supporting The Stranglers at Hornsey Art College in North London. They supported The Sex Pistols at the 100 CLUB and were one of the bands playing at the now legendary 100 CLUB PUNK ROCK FESTIVAL.

Early in 1977 the band supported Iggy Pop (with David Bowie on keyboards) on a UK tour, and released the classic "Baby Baby" single, followed by their first album "Pure Mania" on Epic Records which spent five weeks in the UK Top 75, peaking at number 49. A second single from the album - but a live version - "London Girls", came out in the summer of 1977, followed by "Automatic Lover" (March 1978), which not only reached number 35 in the charts but also got the band on TOP OF THE POPS.

Sound City by The Hollywood Stars is available now on Burger Records

“'Sound City' is everything you could want it to be, a bruising barrage of ten songs in little more than half an hour, punchy glam-inflected powerpop riffola… the Stars certainly had a better grasp of what made glam rock glitter than the majority of their peers.”
— Goldmine Magazine

Building on the success of last summer’s Sound City archival release, The Hollywood Stars today announce details for three upcoming Los Angeles concerts. The band will headline shows at the Redwood Bar and Grill and the Grand Star Jazz Club in downtown L.A., as well as perform at the upcoming “Burgerama” festival in Echo Park.

Details:

February 28: The Hollywood Stars with special guests Nico Bones, Crazy Squeeze, and Bad Sex at the Redwood Bar and Grill, 316 W. 2nd St., Los Angeles 90012. Tickets: https://bit.ly/382Q9kS

March 6: The Hollywood Stars with special guests Hammered Satin, Nico Bones, The Blessings, plus Velvet Tinmine DJs at the Grand Star Jazz Club, 943 N. Broadway, Los Angeles 90012. Tickets available at the door. http://www.grandstarjazzclub.com

March 14: The Hollywood Stars perform at “Burgerama” hosted by Burger Records at The Echo/Echoplex, 1154 Glendale Blvd., Echo Park 90026. Also appearing are The Mummies, Flamin’ Groovies, Apache, and dozens more. For tickets and additional information: https://www.spacelandpresents.com

These will be the first area concerts The Hollywood Stars have performed since headlining an SRO show at the Whisky A-Go-Go on July 18, 2019. To coincide with that appearance, LA Weekly’s Brett Callwood published an interview with the band’s vocalist Scott Phares and designated the show as one of the paper’s weekly “Concert Picks.” The following month, Callwood chose Sound City as his “Album of the Week.”

Sound City was a “lost” album the group had recorded in 1976 but it didn’t see release until August 23, 2019. The LP was greeted with enthusiasm in both the USA and the UK. Shindig! Magazine called the album “as fine an example of powerpop perfection as one is likely to encounter” while Pandora Radio posted a hour-long conversation in which Phares discussed highlights from The Hollywood Stars’ discography. Sound City is available now via all digital retailers. It is also available on CD: https://burgerrecords.com/product/the-hollywood-stars-sound-city/

Having survived various lineup changes since 1973, the current lineup of The Hollywood Stars includes original members Scott Phares (vocals), Ruben De Fuentes (guitar) and Terry Rae (drums), alongside more recent recruits Chezz Monroe (guitar, vocals) and Nigel Taylor (bass, vocals).

During the 1970s, The Hollywood Stars toured with The Kinks and played support gigs to The New York Dolls, Bo Diddley, Ramones, Iggy Pop, and disco star Sylvester. In turn, a cavalcade of newcomers opened shows for the Stars, including Van Halen, Journey, The Runaways, The Knack, and Quiet Riot, among others.

The Hollywood Stars were the first to record classic rock anthems “King of the Night Time World” and “Escape”; those tracks later appeared on platinum-selling albums by Kiss and Alice Cooper, respectively.

WIRE release orange version of MIND HIVE and US TOUR this week + SXSW

Mind Hive (orange)

Wire’s new album has already garnered much praise. Here are just a few quotes from the UK press...
+++++
“If you were to compile a list of bands still at their creative peak after 40 years, it would be very short. But Wire would be on it.” - The Sunday Times Culture
If Mind Hive were the debut by a hot new band, you suspect what’s left of the music press would be doing their nut over it.” – The Guardian (****)
“Instantly recognisable as their work, possessing that hallmark of chiming harmonies draped across angular skeletal constructions - a sound nobody else has ever convincingly replicated.” - Metro (****)
+++++
However, we doubt anyone who signed up to this list needs to be told a new Wire album is something to celebrate!
Anyway, without further ado, we are today announcing that the orange ‘hive’ version of the new album is available from our mail order. This has previously not been available outside of UK indie stores. We should stress the record is exactly the same; only the artwork is different. Nobody should feel they need to have more than one copy of the album.
For those yet to buy, check out the imagery below…

The conceptual idea behind the two different cover treatments relates to the words ‘mind’ and ‘hive’. The blue ‘mind’ cover has imagery relating to Bletchley Park, home to World War II codebreakers that included Alan Turing, often credited as the inventor of the computer. The orange ‘hive’ cover features imagery associated with bees and hives. (The CD, note, has images from both versions.)

Mind Hive (T-shirts)

We are making available today a range (small to XXL) of Mind Hive T-shirts. These are the same ones we are selling on tour.
