In addition to their appearance on the Life of the Record podcast, Low plan to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Things We Lost In The Fire with a new visual album to be premiered on their YouTube channel, as well as a limited edition, hand-numbered screen-printed poster by former band member, graphic novelist, and illustrator, Zak Sally. The posters are numbered and signed by Sally, Sparhawk, and Parker, and will be available for purchase on Low's webstore. All anniversary activities will take place the week of April 20 and information will be available on Low’s website.

The Life of the Record podcast chronicles the time when Low had already made several records in their signature slow and minimal style and they were beginning to expand their sound while recognizing the possibilities of the studio. For Things We Lost In The Fire, Low took their time recording with famed engineer, Steve Albini, in Chicago and later enhancing the recordings with their live sound engineer, Tom Herbers, in Minneapolis. The recordings represented a turning point for the band as they built the songs up more than they had in the past with guest musicians, lush string arrangements, layered harmonies and keyboard textures. Parker and Sparhawk’s songwriting in this period was heavily influenced by the birth of their first child, Hollis, who also makes an appearance on the record. From writing mournful songs about love and the cycle of life to figuring out how to translate parts to string players to studying the original innovators in the studio, we’ll hear the stories around how the record came together.
