Praise for Blessed:

"Since forming five years ago, Blessed have logged hundreds of live shows and developed into a tightly wound math-rock machine. But rather than packing their recordings wall-to-wall with furious riffing and tricky time signatures, they leave space for each element to ramp up the tension." - Pitchfork, 7.3

"Blessed's core guitar tandem of Drew Riekman and Reuben Houweling have capitalized on the magic that can exist between two 6-strings by crafting an album of nuanced textures, math-rock time-signature warping, and intricate interplay...Add in a fearless but deliberate approach to dissonance and the meditative pulse of Krautrock, and you have a recording that's deeply wrought, occasionally challenging, but overall really beautiful. " - Premier Guitar

"Blessed's edge is defined by energy and experimentation, of exploring new avenues just to see where they'll go...iii takes anxiety's inborn tensions and remedies them with catharsis, collaboration and continuous change...With iii, Blessed's strengths in mood, melody, complexity, experimentation and dynamics are complemented by the creative minds of collaborators whose individual styles add a unique flavour to the collection." - Exclaim!

"The haunting vocals of frontman Drew Rieckman work as the centerpiece for the band’s off-kilter instrumentals that shamble between rhythm infused post-punk and art rock’s experimental ruminations. Listeners can almost feel the tight quarters the band tries to escape from during the darkness of winter." - Ears To Feed

Canadian art-rock band Blessed - comprised of Drew RiekmanReuben HouwelingJake Holmes, and Mitchell Trainor - released their latest EP iii in February to acclaim from Pitchfork, Iggy Pop (via his BBC Radio 6 Show), Ears To FeedPremier Guitar, and more. Today they are releasing iii remixes, for which the band has curated an impressive list of talent to remix and reinterpret their latest EP. The remix EP includes collaborations with Montreal's No Joy, Producer Graham Walsh (Holy Fuck), Industrial power house Odonis Odonis and even a special reinterpretation from Blessed themselves. The remixes act as complimentary offerings that highlight the incredible arts community Blessed are surrounded by, while simultaneously demonstrating depth of influences and vast spectrum of sounds encapsulated within their song writing. "Structure (No Joy Remix)"

Manifesting what feels like a completely intentional new band, No Joy expands Blessed's track, “Structure” into a rhythmic, drum lead narrative that seamlessly blends Blessed's complexity with No Joy's sonic explorations; pulling from the adventurous and pleasing elements found in No Joy's latest, Motherhood. The remix features Drew Riekman's elongated monotone vocals manipulated into ethereal chants over a 90's indebted drum loop, as well as field recordings of birds chirping in the background against the lonely isolated guitar, brilliantly singled out from it's piano and synth pad supports on the original track. The organic elements add new texture and emotions to Blessed's song and John McEntire's (Tortoise) original mix.

iii remixes Track Listing:
1) Centre (Graham Walsh Remix)
2) Sign (Odonis Odonis Remix)
3) Structure (No Joy Remix)
4) Movement (Blessed Remix)

More praise for Blessed:

"It’s tough to put Blessed into one, two, or even 100 genres...Blessed’s sound is weird, noisy and harsh, drawing from surf, rock and post-punk in equal measure. It's if Radiohead decided to go back to playing guitars and singing actual words with a Siouxsie and the Banshees twist. It’s creepy, but cool, in a way that will make you feel creepy and cool, too." - Vice

"Though they don’t fit neatly into any one genre, Blessed are known for their sprawling, off-kilter tracks...Blessed’s sound feels at once unpredictable and instinctual, similar to their art-rock contemporaries Palm." - Stereogum

"These songs breathe, they evolve, oscillating between furious, off-kilter instrumentals and infectious choruses that crop up outside of any traditional song structure." - Consequence of Sound

"[iii] showcases an unrelenting urge to do things much differently than any of its contemporaries." - Ghettoblaster Magazine

"Blessed take the knot-tying antics of fellow Canadians Weaves and scuzz it up a little. Keeping their strong melodic core amongst all the twisting riffery, it's a nonchalant take on the weirder side of post-punk - one that's impossible to look away from as it takes every approaching corner at high-speed." - DIY

"Blessed is a forward-thinking Canadian art rock quartet with a knack for angular, shapeshifting melodies and experimental arrangements" - Impose Magazine
