Jordan Mackampa - 'Foreigner' Cover Art
British-Congolese singer Jordan Mackampa released his debut full length album Foreigner today via AWAL. He creates soul-soaked, indie-driven tracks that swim in the sounds and stories of the cities he’s inhabited over the years. Foreigner was produced by Dani Castelar (Paolo Nutini) and can be streamed here: https://jordanmackampa.ffm.to/foreigner.
Influential Southern California radio station KCRW has been an early supporter of Mackampa and recently featured a live performance by Jordan on Morning Becomes Eclectic. Hear the full set here: https://kcrw.co/2GTRSgj.
Mackampa's searing songs are documents of his life as an outsider, and his sound is a melting pot of cultures that stretch from his birthplace in the Republic of Congo to a hip hop-obsessed childhood in North London to teen years spent immersed in indie-rock in Coventry, UK.
Inspired by his mother’s love of the great soul singers, Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers and Curtis Mayfield, Jordan combines his timeless vocal with catchy melodies and heart felt lyrics to create an exciting hybrid of alternative pop and soul which will enchant and uplift in equal measure.
The album sees Jordan scaling fresh heights, adding sumptuous strings, gospel backing vocals and grime influences to his contemporary soul. Jordan’s powerful message music has grown rapidly in scope and scale, soaking up new influences and becoming more complex. Foreigner follows the release of Jordan's first three EP’s: Live From The Grand Cru (2017), Tales From The Broken (2017) and Physics (2016). All three EP’s have received critical acclaim from the likes of NME, The 405, Line Of Best Fit, Clash, Indie Shuffle, Wonderland and more and have collectively amassed over 50 million streams via Spotify.
